Amateur Athletic Union

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit sports organizations in the country.  AAU supplements the school season by playing a full schedule of games in the spring and early summer.  Players compete against programs from all over the state and the New England region.

The AAU experience is ideally looked at as a learning experience.  Our coaches are committed to teaching fundamental basketball.  Players develop and improve their individual skills, while also learning to work together as a team.  Emphasis is placed on dedication, hard work, and accountability.  Success is often measured after the season, when our players get a significant increase in playing time on their school teams.

Traditionally the season lasts from April to June, with tournaments played every other weekend.  Practices are usually held twice a week in the Seymour/Woodbridge/Shelton area.  Times and locations vary depending on the availability of gyms.  Weekends consist of two games on Saturday, followed by two games on Sunday.  An AAU season will offer more than thirty games, almost two years of middle school or high school basketball in only three months.  Please visit www.aausports.org for more information.
